ルカによる福音書第２章（欽定訳）

２章

1.　時が経ち、全世界の[1]居住地域の人々は登録されなければならないとの布告が、カエサル・アウグストから発せられました。

2.　この[2]人口調査は、まずクリニウスがシリアを統治している時に開始されました。

3.　そこで、すべての人々は登録をするためにそれぞれの町に行かなければなりませんでした。

4.　ヨセフもまた、ガリラヤのナザレの町から出てユダに入り、ベスレヘムと呼ばれるダビデの町に上って行きました。彼はダビデの家系の人であったので、

5.　彼の婚約中の妻（彼女は妊娠中でしたが）、マリアと一緒に登録するためでした。

6.　さて、彼らがそこにいる間に、彼女の出産の日が満ちてきていました。

7.　そして、彼女は初子となる息子を産み、うぶ着でくるんで彼を飼い葉桶に寝かせておきました。そこには彼らのための宿がなかったからです。

8.　さて、その同じ地方の野外で、羊飼いたちが、彼らの群れを夜中見張って働いていました。（奉公していた）

9.　すると、見よ、主の御使いの一人が彼らの前に立ち、主の栄光が彼らの周辺を照らしました。そこで、彼らは非常に恐れました。

10.　その時、御使いは彼らに言いました。「恐れてはいけない。御覧なさい。私はあなたがたに、すべての民の大いなる喜びの福音を携えて来たのです。

11.　あなたがたに今日、このダビデの町に、一人の救い主がお生まれになっているからです。その方こそ、主、キリストです。

12.　そして、あなたがたは、赤子がうぶ着に包まれて飼い葉桶に寝かせてあるのを見つけます。このことがあなたがたへの徴です。」

13.　すると、突然、御使いと一緒に天の軍団が天の神を賛美し、それからこう言いました。

14.　「栄光よ、いと高きところで天の神にあれ！そして、地には平和と御旨とが人々にあれ！」

15.　そこで御使いたちが彼らから天に去った後、羊飼いの人々[3]は互いに言いました。「さあ、今、我々はベスレヘムに行こう。そして、主が私たちにお知らせくださったこの出来事を見てこよう。」

16.　そして、彼らは急いで出かけ、マリアとヨセフ、それから飼い葉桶に寝かせてある幼子を見つけました。

17.　さて、彼らは彼にお目にかかると、幼子について彼らに語られた事を広く知らせました。

18.　すると羊飼いたちからこれらのことを（彼らに）聞かされた人々は皆驚きました。

19.　しかし、マリアはこれらの事をすべて彼女の心に留め、彼女の心の中で深く考え込んでいました。

20.　それから、羊飼いたちは天の神に栄光を帰し、賛美しながら帰っていきました。彼らが見たこと、聞いたことが、すべて彼らに語られた通りだったからです。

21.　さて、幼子の割礼のための八日が満ちると、彼の名はイエスと呼ばれました。その名は、彼が胎内に宿る前に、御使いによって与えられていたものです。

22.　さて、モーセの法に従った、彼らのきよめの日々が満ちたので、彼らは彼を主に（彼を）捧げるためにエルサレムに連れて行きました。

23.　（かの律法には、「胎を最初に開くすべての男性は、主に聖なる者と呼ばれる」と書いてあります）

24.　そして、主の律法に「きじ鳩のつがいか、鳩の幼鳥二羽」と仰せになっているところに従ってささげるためにです。

25.　さて、見よ、エルサレムにシメオンという名の人がいました。そして、この男性は正しい人であり、また敬虔でしたが、イスラエルの慰めを待ちわびていました。また、聖霊が彼の上におられました。

26.　その上、聖霊によって、彼は主なるキリストにお会いするまでは、死を見ることがないと啓示されていました。

27.　さて、彼は聖霊によって神殿に来ました。そして、両親が幼子イエスを法の習慣に従って、彼に行おうと連れてきた時、

28.　彼は彼を自分の手に抱き、そして、天の神を賛美してこう言いました。

29.　「[4]主よ、今、あなたの御言葉に従って、あなたはあなたの僕を平和のうちに去らせてくださいます。

30.　私の両目があなた様の救いを見たのですから、

31.　それは、あなたがすべての人々の前に供えてくださったものであって、

32.　異邦人たちに啓示をもたらす光であり、また、あなたの御民イスラエルの栄光です。」

33.　そこで、ヨセフと彼の母親は、彼について語られた、これらの事を〔聞いて〕驚きました。

34.　その時、シメオンは彼らを祝福し、それから、彼の母マリアに言いました。「御覧なさい。この幼な子はイスラエルで多くの人々の滅びと立ち上がりとのため、また、敵対して語られる徴のために備えられています。

36.　さて、そこにアンナという人がいました。女性預言者であって、アセル族のファヌエルの家系の娘でした。彼女は非常に年老いていました。そして、おとめの時から七年間を夫と一緒に生活し、

37.　それから、この女性はやもめとしておよそ八十四歳になっていました。彼女は神殿から出ないで、断食と祈りとをもって、夜も昼も天の神にお仕えしていました。

38.　そして、ちょうどその時が来ると、彼女は主に感謝をささげ、それから、彼について、エルサレムで贖いを待ち望んでいたすべての人々に語りました。

39.　さて、主の法に従ってすべての事を行うと、彼らはガリラヤの彼らの町、ナザレに帰りました。

40.　そして、幼な子は成長し、また、霊は強くなり、知恵に満ち、その上、天の神の恵みが彼と共にありました。

41.　彼の両親は、パスカの祭りの時には毎年エルサレムに行きました。

43.　彼らはその日が終わったので帰りましたが、少年イエスはエルサレムに残っておられました。しかし、ヨセフと彼の母親はそれを知らなかったのです。

46.　ところで、三日後に彼らは彼を神殿で見つけましたが、彼は教師たちのまん中に座っていて、彼らから聞いたり、彼らに疑問（に思っている事）を質問したりしていました。

47.　そして、彼〔の言うことを〕聞いていたすべての人は、彼の理解力と諸々の答えに驚嘆させられていました。

48.　そこで、彼らが彼を見つけると、彼らは驚きました。そして、彼の母親は彼に言いました。｢息子よ、どうしてあなたはこんなことをしたの？あなたのお父さんと私はあなたを心配して捜していたのに。｣

49.　すると、彼は彼らに仰せになりました。「どうして私を捜したのですか？あなたは私が自分の父の業をしているはずのことをご存知ないのですか？」

50.　しかし、彼らは彼が彼らに語られた[5]言葉を悟りませんでした。

51.　それから彼は彼らと一緒にナザレに行き、そして、彼らに服されました。しかし、彼の母はこれらの事をすべて自分の（彼女の）心のなかに留めていました。

52.　そして、イエスは知恵と背丈が増し加わり、その上、天の神と人々に好意を持たれていました。

Luke 2
Luk 2:1  And it happened in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
Luk 2:2  (This taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
Luk 2:3  And all went to be registered, each to his own city.
Luk 2:4  And Joseph also went up from Galilee to be taxed (out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David).
Luk 2:5  And he took Mary his betrothed wife, being with child.
Luk 2:6  And while they were there, the days for her deliverance were fulfilled.
Luk 2:7  And she brought forth her son, the First-born, and wrapped Him, and laid Him in a manger-- because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luk 2:8  And in the same country there were shepherds living in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Luk 2:9  And lo, the angel of the Lord came on them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them. And they were grievously afraid.
Luk 2:10  And the angel said to them, Do not fear. For behold, I give to you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luk 2:11  For to you is born today, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Luk 2:12  And this is a sign to you. You will find the babe wrapped, lying in a manger.
Luk 2:13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
Luk 2:14  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luk 2:15  And it happened as the angels departed from them into Heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Indeed, let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing which has happened, which the Lord made known to us.
Luk 2:16  And hurrying they came and sought out both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger.
Luk 2:17  And seeing, they publicly told about the word spoken to them concerning this Child.
Luk 2:18  And all those who heard marveled about the things spoken to them by the shepherds.
Luk 2:19  But Mary kept all these sayings, meditating in her heart.
Luk 2:20  And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as was spoken to them.
Luk 2:21  And when eight days were fulfilled to circumcise the child, His name was called JESUS, the name called by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
Luk 2:22  And when the days of her purification according to the Law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought Him to Jerusalem, to present Him to the Lord
Luk 2:23  (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord)
Luk 2:24  and to offer a sacrifice according to that said in the Law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.
Luk 2:25  And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. And this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel. And the Holy Spirit was on him.
Luk 2:26  And it happened to him, being instructed by the Holy Spirit, he was not to see death before he would see the Christ of the Lord.
Luk 2:27  And he came by the Spirit into the temple. And as the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do according to the custom of the Law concerning Him,
Luk 2:28  even he received Him in his arms and blessed God, and said,
Luk 2:29  Lord, now You will let Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word.
Luk 2:30  For my eyes have seen Your Salvation
Luk 2:31  which You have prepared before the face of all the peoples,
Luk 2:32  a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of Your people Israel.
Luk 2:33  And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken by him.
Luk 2:34  And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, Behold, this One is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel, and for a sign spoken against
Luk 2:35  (yea, a sword shall pierce through your own soul also), so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
Luk 2:36  And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in many days, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity.
Luk 2:37  And she was a widow of eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, serving God with fastings and prayers night and day.
Luk 2:38  And she coming in at that instant gave thanks to the Lord and spoke of Him to all those in Jerusalem eagerly expecting redemption.
Luk 2:39  And when they had finished all things according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
Luk 2:40  And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom. And the grace of God was on Him.
Luk 2:41  And His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
Luk 2:42  And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the Feast.
Luk 2:43  And fulfilling the days, as they returned, the boy Jesus stayed in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know.
Luk 2:44  But they, supposing Him to have been in the company, went a day's journey. And they looked for Him among the kinsfolk and acquaintances.
Luk 2:45  And when they did not find Him, they turned back to Jerusalem, seeking Him.
Luk 2:46  And it happened that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them and questioning them.
Luk 2:47  And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.
Luk 2:48  And seeing Him, they were amazed. And His mother said to Him, Child, why have you done so to us? Behold, your father and I have looked for you, greatly distressed.
Luk 2:49  And He said to them, Why did you look for Me? Do you not know that I must be about My Father's business?
Luk 2:50  And they did not understand the word which He spoke to them.
Luk 2:51  And He went with them and came to Nazareth, and He was subject to them. But His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
Luk 2:52  And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
